The University of Michigan-Flint Director of the Department of Public Safety, Ray Hall, has announced he will be continuing in his position at the University after previously planning to retire this September.
Hall, who has been in his current position with the university since 2012, said the university has become an important part of his life, and he feels that there’s still work to do, communities to serve and connections to make. “I realized I’m simply not ready to walk away from that,” Hall said.
Hall said the most rewarding part of his job is watching the officers build relationships with community members.
“Our [officers] all have an opportunity to make a positive difference in someone’s life… We have an opportunity to continue working together on research that can produce meaningful outcomes,” Hall said. “That work matters to me. It is bigger than policing. It is about people, relationships and making our campus and community better.”
As of now, Hall doesn’t have a specific date for retirement, with the focus being on the work in front of DPS, supporting the team and students.
