Flint Police Chief Terence Green retires days after the general election

Flint Police Chief Terence Green has officially retired. This comes days after the general election in which incumbent Mayor Sheldon Neeley lost the election to newly elected Mayor Tonya Burns.

Green has served as police chief for six years and was appointed by Neeley in August 2020. The police chief is appointed by the mayor and requires approval from the City Council.

In a statement to Mid-Michigan Now, Green said, “I was appointed as Chief of Police by Mayor Neeley. I accepted the position because of his vision and integrity.”

At this time, it is unclear who will succeed Green as Flint’s next police chief.
