On Aug. 5 at 3:35 a.m., the unofficial results for the primaries were released for the Mayor of Flint.
Current Mayor Sheldon Neeley and City Councilwoman Tonya Burns emerged as the top two candidates for the four-year non-partisan position. Neeley had the most votes with 5,132, or 42.79%, and Burns came in second with 3,913, or 32.63%, votes.
This marks Neeley’s third campaign for mayor and Burns’ first.
Voting to elect the Mayor of Flint will take place during the general election on Nov. 3.
The official primary results will be published on the Genesee County Election Division website on Aug. 18.
