The Riverfront Parking Ramp, located at the corner of Beach and Kearsley Street, is closed indefinitely for repairs, according to the Downtown Development Authority.
In an email sent to residents of the Riverfront building by Melissa Winter, director of Housing and Dining at the University of Michigan-Flint, students were urged to move their cars before the end of the day on Aug. 26.
Raymond Hall, director of Public Safety at UM-Flint, said that the notification from the DDA was sudden.
“We had same-day notice, and so our response was to notify the campus and notify the occupants of the riverfront building,” Hall said.
Hall said that most parking structures on campus will not be affected by the shutdown of the riverfront ramp.
“Many of the occupants had already moved to the UPAV (University Pavilion Parking Garage), so the impact has not been significant on our parking system on campus.”
In an email, the DDA said that there is not a set date for when renovations for the structure will be completed.
