Flint voters who back McMorrow can still cast a new ballot

On July 5, Michigan Senator Mallory McMorrow announced she is suspending her campaign for the Democratic nomination for the Michigan Senate, narrowing the race to U.S. Representative Haley Stevens and former Wayne County Health Director Abdul El-Sayed

The timing of her decision comes after absentee ballots had already been mailed and returned by some Michigan voters. However, anyone who has already cast an absentee ballot for McMorrow can still change their vote.

Under Michigan election procedures, voters may contact the Flint City Clerk’s Office to surrender their original absentee ballot and receive a replacement before 8 p.m on Election Day, Aug. 4, 2026.

Absentee ballots may also be returned to one of the city’s secure drop boxes located outside Flint City Hall, the Flint Police Department, Flint Fire Station 3, Flint Fire Station 5, Flint Fire Station 6 and Flint Fire Station 8.
