About The Michigan Times
The Michigan Times is the student-run campus newspaper of the University of Michigan–Flint. Founded in 1959, it has served the campus community and the surrounding area for over six decades. The publication is affectionately known on and around campus as “The M-Times.”
Our Legacy
Throughout its distinguished history, The Michigan Times has provided a vital voice for UM-Flint students, covering campus news, events, and issues that mattered most to the university community. At its peak, the newspaper was printed weekly and distributed free of charge across campus, other area colleges, downtown Flint, and Greater Flint.
Revival and New Beginnings
After ceasing operations in March 2024 due to funding challenges and declining student interest, The Michigan Times was successfully relaunched in January 2026. This revival represents a renewed commitment to student journalism and campus media at UM-Flint.
